Utility companies, another year of attractive dividends

At least in the short term, investors have set aside worries regarding the lack of investments and the unfavourable legal framework, attracted by the possibility of generous contributions.

Georgiana Androne, investment analyst at Tradeville:
‘In the past weeks, the prices of utilities were animated by the decision which forces state-owned companies to distribute at least 90% of the last year’s profits in dividends, compared to 50% until now. At least in the short term, investors have set aside worries regarding the lack of investments and the unfavourable legal framework, attracted by the possibility of generous contributions. The annual financial results, published midweek, facilitated more accurate expectations.’
